The kapa fingotra is made out of rubber from old tyres. The shoes are handmade on command by any shoemaker who can vary his pattern.
The kiraro kiranyl are made out of plastic; they are imported from abroad. Basically they are for the pool area only.
These two types of shoes are symbols of poverty in Madagascar, because the weather is very hot all the year long, so in those shoes you have your feet sweating all the time.
The following song tells about the change of situation of a young boy who was poor in high school time but now is abroad ( the images in the video are the proofs of his new situation)

Raha mieritreritra ny fiainako taloha aho
Tamin’izany fotoana izany mbola mpianatra
Tsy mba anisan’ireny "play-boys" ireny aho
Ka tsy nana-namana fa nandeha irery.
Izaho ilay bandy kely tsotsotra
Mpanao kapa kyranil
Mandeha an-tongotra rehefa mianatra
Fa tsy amina aotomobila
Somary menamenatra
Rehefa mahita sipa manja kely
Fa matahotra ny ho voarora
Ka aleoko tsy miteny.
Nony taty aoriana kosa noho izany rehetra izany
Tafita tamin’ny fiainako aho fa tsy olona ambany
Ireo niavonavona taloha nanjary nanontany
"Fa inona kay no asanao no niova aok’izany?"
Izaho ilay bandy kely tsotsotra
Mpanao kapa kyranil
Mandeha an-tongotra rehefa mianatra
Fa tsy amina aotomobila
Somary menamenatra
Rehefa mahita sipa manja kely
Fa matahotra ny ho voarora
Ka aleoko tsy miteny.
